The Center for Technology in Education (CTE) at Johns Hopkins University is a unique partnership combining the research and teaching resources of the Johns Hopkins University and the leadership and policy support of the Maryland State Department of Education. In order to support and extend it’s ongoing, innovative professional development work, CTE has developed a suite of web-based tools specifically for the educational community. Two of it’s tools, the Electronic Learning Community (ELC) and the Electronic Portfolio (EP), are currently in use by more than 6000 educational professionals in Maryland. With this in mind, Thinkport offers current ELC and EP members one-click access to the tools, eliminating the need for dual-logins.  To add your ELC and EP login to your Thinkport profile, simply click “my profile” from the menu bar after registering. The Electronic Learning Community (ELC): The Electronic Learning Community (ELC) system developed by the Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education provides groups of education professionals with a secure, online “place” to interact with their colleagues. ELCs have been setup across the state and nationally to allow distinct groups of educators to quickly and easily share announcements, calendars, documents, discussions, and other related information in a secure environment. The Electronic Portfolio (EP): The Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education, in collaboration with the JHU Master of Arts in Teaching Program, has developed a web-based, template-driven, Electronic Portfolio (EP) system for pre-service and in-service teachers. The EP is a tool that allows educators to effectively and elegantly demonstrate their capabilities and achievements in relation to any set of educational standards. The EP also provides a secure, online environment for personal reflection, as well as integrated tools for collaboration with peers and advisors.
