Advisory Board Holds First Meeting

The first Learning Games to Go Advisory Board Meeting brought a talented group of educators, game developers and project participants to Baltimore this April to begin work on the five-year LG2G initiative.

"Our first advisory meeting was a great chance to begin the dialogue that will guide this project in the years to come," said Gail Porter Long, MPT vice president and chief education officer. "We look forward to developing the rich products that will grow from this cooperative effort."

Some of the meeting highlights:

  • Project partner MIT led a game-playing session demonstrating how video games can be integrated into classroom teaching.
  • Project partner Johns Hopkins University brought representatives from its Center for Technology in Education and Applied Physics Lab to discuss possible applications of Virtual Reality technology.
  • Project partner ORC Macro presented information on the testing and evaluation they have done on previous MPT projects.
  • Project leader MPT concepted break-out sessions in which teachers and administrators shared ideas about their classroom needs and ways that LG2G might help address them.

The next LG2G Advisory Board Meeting will be held in early 2007.
