Steve Cosner, an electronics teacher at Southern Garrett High School in Garrett County, has kept in step with changes in educational technology—from the days of Commodore computers to his current role as a mentor in the school’s FIRST robotics team. His efforts resulted in the renovation and equipment upgrade of the school’s Community Technology Center, as well as the development of an after-school program. While serving as a resource for colleagues school- and countywide, he is teaching his students to be an asset to the school system as well. Through a partnership with a community college, his advanced students can earn a certificate in computer maintenance, support, and networking and then provide support for teachers and staff.
