When Jim Lipiano of Bowie High School in Prince George’s County launched a computer graphics program in the late 1990s, he started small with eight borrowed computers. Since that time, the program has grown dramatically and produces student work that has won national awards. He facilitated a collaboration with the Art Institute of Washington that awards advanced placement credit to his students. Additionally, other educators have taken note of the program’s success. Visitors have come from all over the county, the state, and Virginia to observe his classes and use them as models.
