Pamela Rubisch’s school, the Emma K. Doub School for Integrated Arts and Technology, became Washington County’s first technology magnet. In her position as an elementary media specialist and technology educator, she successfully met the challenge of creating her own technology curriculum. Today, students in the media program use technologies ranging from Palm Pilots to interactive whiteboards and Tablets. Her students learn software and Internet skills, podcasting, and Web development. Each student is assessed through responses using the Classroom Performance System. As the lead elementary media specialist for Washington County, she conducts workshops to share her technological knowledge with colleagues beyond her building.
