Technology education teacher Jesse Wisnouse faced the extraordinary challenge of fulfilling the tech needs of an entirely new school, Urbana Middle School in Frederick County. Before the school even opened, he set up a community on Blackboard that allowed school staff to collaborate on opening the new school, even as they finished out the year at their previous jobs. In the classroom, he applies technology to real-life applications, such as having students create and print business cards or record podcasts to market products. He extends his expertise to other teachers in the county through lesson seeds, which are suggested instructional strategies for fulfilling content objectives. He has also created Web-based software tutorials and taught online classes.
