Introduction to Web Based Instruction and Distance Education   (3 credits)

Provider Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education (CTE)

This course is designed to help practicing technology-related professional developers, at the school and district level, integrate online education into their professional development offerings. The course will provide exposure to existing online education models, linking examples to aspects of adult learning styles, facilitate discussions between professional developers, and guide you through the process of creating your own technology enriched PD activities for immediate use. You will leave the course with an online professional development module that meets state standards and the needs of your identified group of learners.

Pre - Requisites:

· A basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint including familiarity with copying and pasting text.
· Ability to save and /or download files to a local Mac or PC
· Ability to open and save email attachments to a local machine, and attach documents to emails
· Internet browsing skills
· Experience with Access is helpful but not required
· Familiarity with online course delivery platforms (i.e., ELC or Blackboard). A tutorial is available for online course participants to meet this prerequisite, if needed. Contact Kate, at CTE, for details: onlinecourses@mail.cte.jhu.edu
