Algebra I Lessons

Our math resources include video tutorials and short, self-paced modules.

Arithmetic Sequences and Geometric Sequences

Students look at arithmetic and geometric patterns in real-world scenarios, and explain and apply the patterns by extending sequences to find the missing value and comparing the growth of these sequences.

Sequences as Functions

Students look at arithmetic patterns as linear functions and geometric  patterns as exponential functions, and use the equations and graphs of these functions to form conclusions and make predictions.

Form Follows Function

Students examine various representations of quadratic functions, and rewrite quadratic functions that are presented in standard form into factored and vertex forms.

It's Hip to Be Square

Students learn how to transform a quadratic equation into vertex form to solve the vertex and the zeros of a quadratic function.

Being Rational About Irrational Numbers

Students examine real numbers and explore why the sum or product of two rational numbers is rational, and why the sum or product of a rational and irrational number is irrational.

Transforming Functions

Students identify the effect on the graph of f(x) when replacing f(x) for specific values of k.

Correlations, Coefficients and Conclusions

Students perform linear, exponential and quadratic regressions, and analyze the fit of a regression line/curve using correlation coefficients and the coefficient of determination.

Curve Fitting and Residual Plots

Students perfume linear, exponential and quadratic regressions to determine the curve of best fit for a set of data, and analyze the fit of the regression curve to determine the best fit for the data.

This Way and That

Students summarize categorical data in two-way frequency tables, and interpret the frequencies in the context of the data.
