Description: This new, rigorous course takes participants from the basics of understanding the Maryland College and Career-Ready Standards (MCCRS) for English Grade 10 to developing a MCCRS-infused lesson. Throughout the course, participants will use a variety of tools to build their understanding of MCCRS integration, including discussion forums, videos and interactive resources. After building a foundation of understanding, participants identify a Grade 10 unit of study and design and create a well-structured, engaging, rigorous literary task analysis for their students.

Smart Kids with Learning Difficulties

Learning to Teach Maryland College and Career-Ready Algebra I ADVANCED

Description: This new, 4-credit online course is designed to help teachers improve their ability to create appropriate learning experiences for their Algebra I students. Participants reflect on ways to increase student proficiencies with the Standards for Mathematical Practice and ways to help students make connections to prior learning. Participants also create learning experiences that both adhere to the principles of UDL and help students to develop procedural skills, conceptual understanding and the ability to model with mathematics. Registrants should have a working knowledge of the mathematics included in Maryland College and Career-Ready Algebra I. While this course may sharpen the participants' mathematical knowledge, the main goal is for participants to reflect on the content of Maryland College and Career-Ready Algebra I and on effective ways to teach the content.
