Welcome Letter

This is to confirm your registration on Thinkport for the upcoming semester of local PBS TeacherLine (PBS TL) courses. The successful completion of your course makes you eligible for MSDE credit and a PBS TeacherLine certificate of completion. Graduate credit options are available for PBS TeacherLine courses for an additional fee.  Once your course has begun, your facilitator will provide you with a link to information and directions on how to apply.

Please note the course refund policy for all Thinkport courses. This policy supersedes the policies of PBS TeacherLine and Johns Hopkins Center for Technology in Education (CTE).

All local PBS TL courses open on a Tuesday on the PBS TL site at www.pbs.org/teacherline.  About a week prior to the opening of your course you will receive an email from PBS TeacherLine with a link to accept an invitation to join your course.  You MUST accept this invitation in order to enter your course.

NEW USERS will have to create an account.  FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW:
1. Turn off your pop-up blocker.
2. Go to www.pbs.org/teacherline and click on the Login link in the upper right hand corner of the page.
3. Click on the "Create an Account" link in the middle of the page.
4. Input your email (the one listed above) and create a password.  Remember to write down your password and click “Submit”.
5. You will be prompted to accept the invitation for your course (CLICK YES) and to enter some additional information (address, school, subject, etc.).
6. Click “Submit” at the bottom of the page.
7. Then you should be taken to a page with the name of your course.  Click on the course title and then you can begin to read and post assignments and discussions.

I would suggest that you explore the PBS TeacherLine Website at www.pbs.org/teacherline .  PBS TeacherLine courses are hosted on the PBS TeacherLine site. Please make note of your online login (your email address) and password. You will need this each time you go on PBS TeacherLine.

A few days before opening day, your facilitator will send you a welcome letter and any other information you need to enter your course and directions for getting to the course.  The course will be open to you two days prior to the start date. You will be able to participate in discussions prior to the start date, but you will not be granted access to submit assignments until the course has begun.

Once you Log in to PBS TeacherLine there are many resource sections and communication areas to explore. You will have access to a free Practice Learning Online course that helps you explore all the features of a PBS TeacherLine course.

If you have any questions now or along the way, please feel free to contact Jennifer Pleszkoch by email at teacherline@mpt.org, or call 410-581-4091. We hope you enjoy the upcoming session of PBS TeacherLine.
