Richard Phillips

Richard Phillips' students are literally hands-on learners. They reconstruct old computers for use by teachers throughout Dorchester County Public Schools. His students also maintain and supervise a mobile laptop lab. Phillips' teaching philosophy has created a natural bridge between students’ skills and opportunities beyond the classroom. In collaboration with Delmar Delaware High School, his students created Web pages for a local chapter of the NAACP, the Delaware Department of Corrections, a children’s football league, and other groups. Phillips, who has frequently served as a technology mentor to staff and students, was named Dorchester County Technology Teacher of the Year for the 2002-2003 school year.
