Cherie Skeeter is a leader in the use of handheld PDAs in the classroom. Her fifth grade students at Westside Intermediate School in Wicomico County use PDAs to improve their reading, language, and thinking skills. She teaches educators how to use the handheld devices to analyze student achievement. Skeeter was selected to model best practices for using PDAs in education for a video that will be on the MSDE Maryland Teacher Technology Standards Web page. In addition to PDAs, Skeeter successfully integrates technologies such as PowerPoint, WebQuests, and digital photography into her classroom instruction. She chairs her school’s technology committee and represents her school to the Wicomico County Board of Education on technology issues.
