Child Care Directors have a convenient new way to learn and earn clock hours online. This self-paced course teaches Directors how to operate a successful business, important leadership and management skills, staff development and licensing requirements. Courses are divided into six 30-minute modules and interactive components guide learners through the course content.

Learners will:

• Become familiar with the functions and responsibilities of a Center Director
• Gain knowledge in program design, staffing and financial matters
• Learn about admission and enrollment policies and building rapport with families
• Increase understanding of state regulations (COMAR) and maintaining a safe environment
• Earn 3 MSDE approved clock hours in Professionalism under Core of Knowledge.

Courses can be completed any time within the 4-week course date period. A self-paced course allows users to progress at their own speed.

This course is made available through a partnership between Maryland Public Television (MPT) and the Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE). Please note: Core of Knowledge Clock Hours will be issued in place of credits for all child care courses.

Courses are conveniently divided into six 30-minute modules and interactive components guide learners through the course content.

• Become familiar with relevant state regulations (COMAR) and see best practices applied in a child care setting.
• Gain knowledge of ethical practices, standards in child care and pertinent program responsibilities.
• Track progress through pre-and-post assessments in each module.
• Earn 3 MSDE approved clock hours in Professionalism under Core of Knowledge.
