Thinkport Tour

Education Is Our Top Priority

Your students and children are your top priority, as well as ours. To provide the best education for them, you'll need the right materials, up-to-date information, and the latest technology. Thinkport provides all of this for you in one place. Here you can quickly find the resources, information and advice you need, giving you more time for what matters — teaching and providing for your students and children.

A Partnership of Two Trusted Names in Maryland Education

Thinkport is the product of an on-going partnership between Maryland Public Television (MPT) and Johns Hopkins University Center for Technology in Education (CTE), two of the most trusted names in Maryland education.

For over 30 years, MPT has been a valued friend to educators and Maryland's home for PBS's beloved children's programming. But in addition to broadcasting "Sesame Street" and "Barney and Friends," MPT produces original educational video series, creates online resources, such as online field trips, and conducts institutes and workshops year-round for educators and child-care providers alike. MPT knows educational media, traditional and new.

CTE is dedicated to improving the quality of life for all children and youth, particularly those who have special needs, through teaching, research, and leadership in the uses of technology. Innovations developed at CTE are shaping the future of the ever-expanding relationship between media and education.

Technology in the Service of Education

Thinkport aims to help teachers teach more effectively, inspire students to learn, build bridges between schools and homes, and fulfill Maryland Content Standards for education. We're focused on harnessing technology in the service of education.

Thinkport's four distinct "experience channels" — Think Classroom, Think Career, Think Technology, Think Family & Community — offer distinctive content aimed at helping you find and create what you need in the least amount of time. For example, through Think Classroom, you can use our Lesson Builder, an online application featuring current state content standards, to help you build lessons that utilize rich multimedia content. Really useful, really fast.

Through My Idea Box, a customized electronic "storage bin," you can hold selected resources for future use and share them with your peers across the state. Teacher-to-teacher discussions, statewide announcements, and opportunities are facilitated through our Member Messaging and My Calendar features. You can create your own virtual teacher's lounge with your peers around the state, focusing on the subjects and grades you teach!

The Future of Education Is Now

Thinkport offers rich online educational resources, valued professional development, and innovative multimedia learning tools — all just a few clicks away. The future of Maryland education is happening right now. Thinkport offers you a unique opportunity to be a part of it.
