Organizing a Research Project

When it comes to research projects, Mr. Lexington says organization is crucial! He says that every project is different, but each one should have the following three sections:

  1. An introduction
  2. The body
  3. A conclusion
Here’s how he explained each one.

Once you’ve organized your research into an introduction, body and conclusion, you can make all sorts of research projects. Mr. Lexington let us choose from five different formats for our projects. Click on each one to learn more.

Mr. Lexington says that no matter what format we choose for our projects, we always have to include a bibliography for our sources. Also, all the projects should have the same basic structure. Every project needs an introduction, a body and a conclusion! Got it, Mr. Lexington! We hear you loud and clear!

Research Tip

Did you know … that you can enter your research projects into a National History Day (NHD) contest when you’re done? It’s true! The five research formats that Mr. Lexington suggested are the same categories as the NHD competition. Check out their website for more details.
